Born: 1866, Thetford, Vt, U.S.A. Died: 1924, Manila, Luzon P.I.



From 1887-88 Assistant in Botany, Univ. of Michigan; later zoologist; Dean, Secretary of the Interior of the Philippine Government. Author of a book on the Philippines.1

Worcesterianthus Merr. and Clausena worcesteri Merr. were named after him.


Collecting localities:

In April 1891 he visited the slopes of Mt Halcon, Mindoro, but did not collect.



Herb. Manila [PNH]: plants numbered in the B.S. (cf. sub Bureau of Science) series. Possibly he previously collected with private numbers, but up till now there is no sure evidence.
