On behalf of this bureau a large amount of plants was collected in the B.S. series, principally by officials and native collectors in the employ of that institute, partly by others.

Some time before the war the name of the Manila Herbarium was changed to Philippine National Herbarium (see there), and a new series was started with P.N.H. or Phil. Nat. Herb. nos (see there).
