Barber, Mrs

(Source: Flora Malesiana ser. 1, 1: Cyclopaedia of collectors)

Is cited to have collected a no 98 K, Ixora barberae Bremek. in Labuan (cf. Bremekamp in Bull. Jard. Bot. Buit. sér. 3, vol. 14, 1937, p. 243). The plant was named after her.

Bremekamp cites other nos too of a Mrs Barber; this is no other than E. Scott Barber (see there); according to H.K. Airy Shaw, Hooker’s handwriting of ‘Mr Barber’ often looks very like ‘Mrs Barber’. Mrs Barber was never in Labuan with her husband.
