Bremekamp, Cornelis Elisa Bertus

Born: 1888, Dordrecht, Z.H., Holland. Died: 1984, Bilthoven, Holland.



A physiologist who graduated (Ph. Dr) at Utrecht University in 1912; Chief Assistant of the Phytopathologist of the Java Sugar Experiment Station (Pasoeroean), 1912-14; teacher at the Medical College (N.I.A.S.) at Soerabaja, 1915-Jan. 1921; University Lecturer at Amsterdam, 1921-23; Professor of Botany at Transvaal University College, Pretoria (S. Africa), 1924-31. At present he lives at Zeist, Holland, where he devotes himself to the study of Rubiaceae, Acanthaceae, etc.

He is the author of several physiological, taxonomical, and morphological papers, and besides of some small sketches of the Javan landscape.1

E. Java: Lalidjiwo on the slope of G. Ardjoeno with van der Goot and Jeswiet (March 23-25, 1913); Jang Plateau (Oct. 19-20, 1913); W. Java: visit to Tjibodas (May 24-28, 1914); E. Java: Soetji (Grissee) (1916); Noesa Baroeng (Isl. S of E. Java) (± 1916); G. Panderman; in 1917 e.g. at Soerabaja, Pasoeroean and on G. Tengger, in Madoera (May 8-9), on G. Ardjoeno & G. Kembar (June 2); Trètès (Aug. 4); G. Penanggoenan (Juny 1919); Gresik near Soerabaja (Febr. 1920).
