Born: 1843. Died: 1914, England.

 

career:

A schoolmaster at Singapore (see http://www.ri.edu.sg/yr5to6/houses/hadley-hullett); a member of the Gardens Committee, and once in temporary control.

Begonia hullettii Ridl. and other plants were named after him.

 

Collecting localities:1

Malay Peninsula, Johore: on a trip to G. Blumut with D.F.A. Hervey (see there detailed itiner. etc.) (Jan.-Febr. 1879); before that time he had already visited G. Pulei, G. Pantei and G. Mentahak; Jaffaria in S. Johore with Sir G. King (1879); Mt Ophir & Malacca (Dec. 1883, Apr. 1888); Singapore; P. Penang.-NW. Borneo, Sarawak, evidently as early as 1885 or previously and about 1890 again.-Orchids for Ridley on G. Dai, Lingga (e.g. July 17, 1893).2-W. Java: Tjibeureum near Sindanglaja on the slope of G. Gedeh (July 1894).
