Meyer, Emanuel

(Source: Flora Malesiana ser. 1, 1: Cyclopaedia of collectors)

career:

A Swiss, member of the ‘Naturforschende Gesellschaft Basel’, who published a flora of Switzerland; he might have collected plants in Java (G. Gedeh-Pangrango) in 1842; in 1844 he made collections in Texas. There remains the possibility that his Java specimens were Zollinger plants (in that case the year of collecting was probably 1844). Zollinger stayed at first with A.J. Meyer at Tjikoja Estate, who might have been a relative of Emanuel Meyer.

collections:

Specimens from Java with Herb. Meisner (Basel [BAS]) in Columbia Herb. = N. Y. Bot. Gard. [NY].
