Born: 1913, Utrecht, Holland.

Passed her final examination of biology in 1936 at Utrecht. She married Dr M.G. Rutten (eldest son of L.M.R. Rutten), who was appointed geologist in the employ of the B.P.M. (Batavian Oil Company) and was stationed at Tjepoe (Centr. Java, 1936-37), and subsequently transferred to S. Sumatra. In June 1939 they went on furlough to Holland; in 1940 he was in nomination for a job in the employ of the Geological Service at Bandoeng, but the appointment did not come off on account of the German occupation of Holland, which prevented RUTTEN to go thither. At present her husband is Professor of Geology at Amsterdam University.
